Her gown is mostly paper with a few pieces of tulle added as filler.

New Online Class coming soon!

I have been asked by many to share my painting techniques. I have decided to offer a series of painting classes. The 1st series will show 4 separate techniques that can be used on any art form. The photo above is #2 and I got a little carried away lol After I finished the technique and I was ready to seal and move on to #3 the canvas SCREAMED "I need wild flowers." So I obeyed and voila, wild flowers lol

WIP ~ strainer has an eye wohooooooo!!!

I am having way too much fun on Sherry's Mixed Media piece. The foundation for the face is in place. Now to add the "skin." Sherry's colors are brown's and coppers. I think I need to throw in some reds :p We shall see what the piece tells me to do.

Another new project

Here I go gathering again :) My good friend asked me to create a mixed media wall hanging for her new home. I am very excited to create something that is really ME ! Crazy and off the wall ! The body is an old slicer of some kind. Not sure what it is but I imagine it was used to slice vegetables, meats, cheese, fingers ??? lol The blades are sharp and rusted and I love the "feel" of the old wood. Initially I was going to stick with old/vintage but a trip through the plumbing department at Home Dept shot that all to hell :p So I am gathering items form around my home, adding my own twist so we shall see where this goes. Will keep you posted.

Head is done

The Reno/Iowa Retreat begins next week!
The class prototype is a figure suspended from a winged frame. I can't share the information about each artists interpretation until after the retreat. BUT here is mine :) I am creating a dung beetle or scarab if you will. I love how she turned out! Here eyes are eerie and seem to follow your every move.
Check back next week! Hope to have pictures of all the creations.

WIP ~ My Challenge piece for the Retreat

Halloween is the beginning of my Holidays and will continue until January 8th. I LOVE Halloween so I decided to create my challenge piece with that in mind. I got a bit crazy with the pin cushion and the skeleton pin became a mini pin cushion as well :) This goes to a special young lady that just discovered 3D art recently. Hope she likes it as much as I enjoyed making it :)

Pin Cushion

The Reno/Iowa Retreat is around the corner. Our classes are full and we are all packing and getting our supplies and artwork together. We are having a Pin Cushion Stealing extravaganza :0 Here is my contribution ~ my favorite bug ~ a Dung Beetle ! lol I could not make a basic pin cushion nor have I ever made one but once I put my own twist to it I found it enjoyable. There is a hidden compartment for pins and he is "Bernardized" with many Swarovski Crystals and yummy clear micro gems. I have another one in the works :)

Winged frame is complete

My portion of the Reno/Iowa retreat piece is finally done! The wings are 27" tall and break down into 3 separate pieces for easy shipping and storage. It will make it's way to Sherry Goshon tomorrow. Sherry will construct the figure that will be suspended from the wings. I am very excited to see what Sherry comes up with. We are in our 4th year at the retreat and I can hardly wait!

JOIN MY FREE Online Wing Class

Come join my free online class and learn to make fiber optic wings using Kleenex. Sign up here

All done!

Finished the Wings! I must admit they are stunning ! This picture was taken outside and I used my flash. Although the picture shows great details for JudiA, the wings are more brilliant in color and full of twinkling lights. My camera was not able to capture the finer details but I think you get the idea. The photograph below was taken without a flash. The natural light shines through the Kleenex and yet again the fiber optics can not be seen in the picture. Not to worry! In the class layout you will see the glow of the fiber optics. I have decided to create a online class vs. a tutorial. I got a little carried away and some may have questions. Working on the class layout as we speak. See you all real soon
Jean :)

Last night a large creature flew over my head !

The night sky smelled of rain and all was calm although there were clouds silently rolling in. From afar I could hear a curious sound that made me turn my head ! A dragon gently glided by with wings fully extended and on her back was a slender creature riding on a gilded saddle. Both smiled upon me and gracefully headed high above the clouds dancing between the rain drops only to disappear from sight.

Free Wing Tutorial ALMOST DONE !!!

I am creating a FREE wing tutorial that will debut in a day or so. Check my website www.jeanbernardart.com. The wings turned out gorgeous if I say so myself. The wings were placed in front of a window so you get the real effect and their true colors. After the adhesive was applied they became transparent. Almost like stained glass! There are fiber optics inside the wings and they light up and look as if they shimmer with twinkling stars. I love them! Now to cut out the wings and add the embellishments.
Thanks for looking!
